INTERNATIONAL FOOD DESIGN SUPERSTAR JOINS THE LINE UP FOR NEW ZEALAND CONFERENCE

DUNEDIN: Marije Vogelzang of the Netherlands has been announced as a keynote speaker at the second International Food Design Conference and Studio being organised by the Food Design Institute in Dunedin at the end of June.
Vogelzang is internationally recognised as a leading exponent of the Food Design movement. However, she prefers to think of herself as an ‘eating designer'. Author of ‘Eat Love’, international guest lecturer and food artist, Vogelzang has worked with global companies such as Nestle, LEGO, Selfridges and Nandos to design food concepts.
Her design philosophy is encapsulated in seven inspirational points, which she uses to stimulate creativity saying ‘food goes to the stomach, but it can also activate the brain and rouse strong memories and emotions.’
Vogelzang’s portfolio includes; design workshops in Lebanon, France, Switzerland, Doha and London; lectures in Bangkok, Copenhagen, Norway, Cape Town, Dubai, Estonia and Mexico to name a few and solo exhibitions and performance installations in New York, Berlin, Dakar, Rome, Mexico, London, Paris and Hong Kong. While visiting New Zealand, Vogelzang is hoping to work with New Zealand companies to host workshops to facilitate innovation and inspiration.
Vogelzang joins Nigerian chef and food designer Michael Elẹgbẹdé’ on the bill for this international conference, which is expected to attract 300 delegates from the food industry as well as interested consumers for three-days of keynote addresses, lectures and hands-on workshops.
Dunedin-based international exporter Silverfern Farms is a key conference supporter with North Otago producer Whitestone Cheese also joining the team. The International Food Design Conference and Studio is one of the cornerstone events to celebrate Otago Polytechnic’s 50th anniversary. Otago Polytechnic opened as a technical institute in 1966, and is now one of New Zealand’s top providers of hands-on education.
